GOD said, "let the volleys continue," and Unknown Scratcher had to resume one of his favourite pastimes to continue with the sense (or non-sense as you perceive!). Its going to be terse this time but the blogger promises a slightly longer version the next time atleast.
My view on politics (read Indian politics): "The RIGHT person is always LEFT out!"

To write a blog on the England's performance in this Ashes (2006-07) down under would require a lot of space and time, not of their superlative performances but for the description of their under-par antics on and off the field. To summarise:

Mohammad Abdul Salim - Who?

This guy answers to any one or more of the following calls:

Only Indian to have represented the Scottish football club-Celtics (Unfortunately he played only a single season)
Played bare-legged European soccer (with jersey numbered 14) (if only you knew how tough it is/was to play European soccer, leave alone without shoes!)
Represented Mohammedan Sporting in our NFL and still played bare-legged. Maybe this was the reason he turned up with his bare legs for Celtics(or maybe he didn't have enough money)!
He supposedly died even poorer! And this is what the history has to say: "When he died with a long illness, his son was left with no other options but to ask the people of Celtic for some help, after many a failed attempts at getting a help from the Government of India and Mohammedan Sporting, finally he could manage a draft of around 100 pounds from the Celtics and even more unfortunate was the legend died before the fund could reach!

How many of us (apart from the inquisive quizzers) really know about him? We are more proud of the exploits of Beckhams (i wonder if there would be any more exploits), Messis, Ronaldinhos etc., and even more interested if these supposedly 'BIG' stars get caught in the scandals and affairs!

Its high-time that we start looking at ourselves, the system and its managers to assess what is really going wrong rather than just complaining about the system!

This article is a heart-felt tribute to the legend-Mohammad Salim who made it so close, yet, remained far!

What's in a name? - Part 1

Chennai Veerans, Bangalore Lions (formerly Hi-Fliers), Hyderabad Sultans, Sher-e-Jalandhar, Chandigarh Dynamos, Orissa Steelers (strangely a STATE atlast) and Maratha Warriors (community too, adieus to RIGHTIST, if you know who i am referring to!)

A look at these names (and teams) would reveal the following:
# 3 team names from the South, 2 team names from the North, and 1 from East & West! Interesting thing to wonder would be whether even the composition of the players in the tournament (minus the imports) be in the ratio of 3:2:1:1?
# Assuming that each of these names are strongly associated with their respective hockey associations, how many players from the home association make-up the home team?
# Why is it that the prominent imports make-up the relatively stronger teams?
#Dilemma: Player A originally from X zone represents another team (say Y) from a different zone and if in the match between the team from the X zone and Y this player has a key contribution, then, would he think of the loyalty to his association or be a humble servant of the team that he's currently representing?

Greetings,

Thanks for visiting my blog. The blogs would primarily centre around discussions related to sports (from Sachin's musings to Armstrong's exploits), politics (to an extent), random thoughts, (exhaustive list, well, you see, nobody is perfect) etc. I shall try to update the blog as frequently as possible but don't expect a very regular posting! Please feel free to drop your comments which would help me immensely in making it better (and more controversial) each time this site is blogged.
